Urban Gardening

Urban gardening. Quite a new phenomenon in the Quad Cities area. Not a shocker! Many people, like The Beard’s uncle have been doing it for decades, while others are just merely starting with their sole ceramic pot in the window sun.

We are intrigued by it and encourage it.

Whether it’s house plants or an edible garden, we like to shine a little light on those who try and give Mother Nature a little pep step.

This week — we are featuring The Beard’s uncle’s garden.

Welcome to Marty’s Urban Edible Jungle!

**Pro Tip: Plant rows of flowers between rows of edibles to attract pollinators for better crop production**

Just because you live in the center of town doesn’t mean you can’t grow your own food and help the pollinators out.

For those of you already urban gardening, we give you a double fist bump!

We want to sincerely thank Marty for allowing us to feature his garden on our site!

Quad Cities — we need more of you to follow in these footsteps.
